Infrared eyes are in place along the whole length of the aisle and do not allow the system to move if any of those eyes become blocked by a person, step stool, book, box, etc.
A secondary protection system should be incorporated in the form of a carriage safety sweep. This is an infrared eye on the side of the carriage that detects if a person or object is in the aisle. This should only be considered as a back-up to the main system as the carriage is typically moving when this type of system is activated.
